CARLISLE, Pa.–At 1:25 p.m. on Saturday, correctional officers at Cumberland County Prison found an inmate unconscious in his jail cell.
The inmate, identified as David M. Atraga, had been incarcerated at the prison since May 5 for a parole violation, according to Cumberland County Prison Warden Earl Reitz.
Efforts to revive Atraga were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead, Reitz said.
The Cumberland County coroner’s office and Middlesex Township Police Department are investigating.
An autopsy is scheduled. So far, no word yet on what caused Atraga’s death.
