Lebanon man with stolen handgun charged in shots fired incident

LEBANON, Pa. – A Lebanon man is charged in a shots fire incident on a city street Tuesday evening.  At about 5:35 p.m. police responded to 415 N. 9th Street for a report of gun shots fired. Numerous witnesses assisted police in identifying the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the scene as well as identifying the location of the discarded firearm.

According to police Frank Estrada-Vargas, 50, of Lebanon, was driving on N. 9th street when he recognized a person on the sidewalk. He then stopped his vehicle to assault the individual.  During the assault a handgun in his possession discharged. No one was injured during the incident.  Police also learned that the handgun was reported stolen in 2010 out of Lehigh County.

Estrada-Vargas was located and taken into custody. Police say charges are pending.
