YORK COUNTY, Pa. - According to Eastern York High School's Facebook page, the district said it is working with Lower Windsor Township Police Department to identify an individual police are trying to apprehend. The incident allegedly happened mid-morning on Monday.

School District officials posted the following letter to parents/guardians concerning the incident:

"This letter is to inform you of an incident that occurred on our high school campus today. We want to make sure you have accurate information and dispel any rumors you may have heard about the incident.

This morning a young adult male entered the building per the request of his girlfriend. A professional staff member noticed the person and escorted him to the office. The person immediately left the building and campus.

Our high school administrators notified Lower Windsor Township Police to report this incident and asked that they investigate the concern, as is our policy.  Lower Windsor Township Police reported to the high school to work with the administration to identify the individual and help to resolve the situation.  The administration and Lower Windsor Township Police were able to review video footage to identify the individual.  Lower Windsor Township Police immediately began to attempt to locate the individual.

As a precautionary measure, an officer remained on campus while additional officers attempted to locate the individual. At approximately 1:35 p.m, Eastern York Administration was contacted by Lower Windsor Township Police with the recommendation to restrict student and staff movement within the High School and Middle School. This recommendation was made following a sighting of the individual near the secondary school campus. Eastern York School District Administration cooperated with Lower Windsor Township Police to ensure the safety of our students and staff at dismissal.

When it was determined that the individual was not apprehended, Eastern York School District cooperated with Lower Windsor Township Police to delay dismissal until police could be on site to assist administration with the safe dismissal of all high school and middle school students. In addition, as the individual was not apprehended by police, all evening activities were cancelled.

The safety, security, and well-being of all our students and staff is of utmost importance. Eastern York School District strives to create a learning environment which protects the health and safety of all our school community. Although there is no threat to the safety of our students and staff, police will be present as students and staff arrive tomorrow morning."
