LANCASTER, Pa. – A caregiver faces several charges including theft involving an elderly client. Lancaster City Police met with the victim and a family member in April to take a report of identity theft and fraud.

The caregiver, identified as Edita Martinez, 53, of Allentown, had allegedly used the elderly victim’s identity to fraudulently open credit card accounts. Martinez then used the credit cards to make fraudulent purchases.

Detective Toby Hickey conducted follow up investigations and filed a criminal complaint against Martinez. Detective Hickey learned that Martinez had been in Puerto Rico and only recently returned to Pennsylvania.

Martinez is charged with Identity Theft, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Forgery and Access Device Fraud.   She surrendered herself at a district justice office, arraigned on the charges and released on $20,000 bail.
