HARRISBURG, Pa. –   A Halifax man pleads guilty before U.S. District Court Judge William W. Caldwell, to a two count felony information, charging him with receipt of images depicting the sexual exploitation of children.

According to the United States Attorney, David Allen Hoffman, 68, received images depicting the sexual abuse of children from an international company. After obtaining a warrant, federal law enforcement officers searched the defendant’s home in August and located hundreds of images and movies containing child pornography Hoffman received in 2011.

If convicted, Hoffman faces a mandatory 5 year sentence and a maximum sentence of  20 years’ in federal prison,  a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
