LANCASTER, Pa.– A second strike will cost an Ephrata sex offender at least 25 years in prison.

Todd Atkinson, 47, will serve to 25 to 50 years in state prison following his sentencing Tuesday.

He was convicted in April of felony counts connected to the hundreds of child pornography images that were found on both a USB and hard drive that Atkinson used at his wife’s business in Akron. This is Atkinson’s second sexual offense, as he was convicted of indecent assault of a six-year-old girl in 2011.

In court, Assistant District Attorney Janie Swinehart said that Atkinson accessed the child pornography while he was in sex-offender treatment for his prior offense. Swinehart said that shows the depth of Atkinson’s “deviance.”

Due to it being his second conviction of sexual abuse, Atkinson faced a mandatory 25-year prison sentence.

Under Megan’s Law, Atkinson is now required to register his whereabouts with police for the rest of his life.
