STRASBURG TOWNSHIP, Pa.–A Lancaster man was charged  after he tried to ram a vehicle he was chasing along Route 222 in Strasburg Township following a domestic dispute last month, according to Pennsylvania State Police reports.

Stephen L. Shenk, 41, of Lancaster, is charged with two counts aggravated assault, two counts false imprisonment, harassment and DUI.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a vehicle crash involving Shenk along the 1900 block of Beaver Valley Pike in Strasburg Township on Sept 18. Investigators learned that prior to the crash, Shenk was involved in a fight with a 36-year-old woman at his home in Lancaster. A friend of the woman stopped at the home to pick her up, but was followed in a vehicle by Shenk to her home in Strasburg. According to police reports, Shenk pulled in behind the vehicle occupied by the two women in order to prevent them from leaving.

They escaped, but Shenk chased after them in his vehicle along Route 222. During the chase, Shenk pulled along side the woman’s car, driving south in the northbound lane of Route 222 and attempted to ram the vehicle. The female driver took an evasive maneuver to avoid colliding with him. That’s when state police say Shenk lost control of his vehicle and went off the road into a tree.

Shenk was taken to Lancaster General Hospital with serious injuries, state police said.
