HARRISBURG, Pa.– Faculty have gathered to rally at the State System of Higher Education Headquarters this morning.

The rally is being held in order to help move contract talks along, as faculty members have been working under an expired contract for 450 days, according to officials. It will go until noon today.

If the two parties do not reach an agreement, the APSCUF says they will go on strike October 19.

A spokesperson for the state system says they are making progress and moving closer to a new contract.

Members of the faculty began to arrive at about 8:30 this morning, and began picketing yelling “contract now!”

Many faculty members arrived by bus at the Dixon University Center this morning.

The crowd has continued to grow as the morning has gone on.
