Unfortunately, the world is filled with incidents of child abuse.

Now, the Penn State Center for Protection of Children is part of a university-wide initiative that includes medical care, research and education on child abuse treatment and prevention.

The Center for the Protection of Children is located at Penn State Children’s Hospital and includes a variety of clinical services and research.

These clinical services include examinations and treatment of children who have been abused, mental health treatment for children who have been exposed to traumatic events, such as abuse or neglect and medical treatment for children who are in out-of-home care.

FOX43's Amy Lutz joined the Center for the Protection of Children to collaborate on a special that will air on Saturday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. on WPMT-FOX43 called Finding Hope—Protecting our Children from Abuse.

The special was created to help raise awareness of child abuse and the resources that are available to children, the community and families.

Lori Frasier, MD., the director of Penn State Center for the Protection of Children will join FOX43 Morning News to offer more on the special and the center.
