ADAMS COUNTY, Pa.--An organization in Adams County is growing pink pumpkins--all for breast cancer!

The group "Growing for a Cure" is growing the porcelain pink pumpkins for the "Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation."

Organizer Troy Starner says he reached out to local schools to see if any students were interested in helping.

One student, Dawson Garvick, a junior from the Conewago Valley School District , teamed up with Starner as part of an FFA project.

"When I heard it was going to involve something with agriculture I immediately jumped on it, and I love the idea," Garvick said. "I've been personally affected by cancer, my mom had cancer so it just kind of hit home."

And while the pumpkins are decorative, they are perfectly fine for pies too.

The group is hoping to raise $20,000 to give back to the Pink Pumpkin Foundation and local breast cancer organizations.
