LANCASTER, Pa. – A 19 year old Lancaster man is treated at General Hospital for a gunshot wound, but police aren’t sure where in the city the shooting happened.  Police responded at about 11:38 a.m. to LGH after it was reported the young man was being treated for a gunshot wound to his jaw.  No calls for shots fired or suspicious activity had been received prior to the patient entering LGH.

Initial information provided by the patient was that he was shot in the area of Reservoir Park at 701 E. King Street.  Officers and Detectives checked the area of and around Reservoir Park but no scene was located.

While conducting a follow-up investigation at a residence along the 500 block W. Orange Street at about 12:44 p.m. police found blood on the sidewalk and steps leading to the address they were about to contact.

While attempting to make contact with any occupants inside the residence police saw at least two occupants of the home exit onto the roof from a rear dormer window. Officers saw that items were being thrown from the residence to a neighboring yard by the occupants of the target residence. With the belief that evidence was potentially being tampered with or destroyed, investigators forced entry into to the home. The males that had gone out onto the roof went back into the home through the window. Officers found that there were three adult males inside the home.

The circumstances behind the shooting and the actual location where ii occurred are still under investigation. The location on W. Orange St. is currently being secured and Detectives are applying for a Search Warrant for the home.

Sot far no charges have been filed in this. The apparent shooting does not appear to be a random act and there is no danger to the public.
