Shades Fest held in York County to remember those affected by domestic violence

RED LION, YORK COUNTY, Pa. -- October is Domestic Violence Awareness month in conjunction, Shades Fest was held in Red Lion, York County.

There were raffles, vendors and lots of food for everyone to enjoy. Ni Rain School of Irish Dance also performed at the event. Those who planned the fest were thankful for everyone who came out to support the cause.

"It's been truly a blessing, it's such an inspirational day, it's exciting, it's breathtaking to see that people truly care, because there isn't enough good out there any more," Co-organizer for Shades Fest, Theresa Olafsson said. "So this is a blessing, and to see what we can do, right there, one little act of kindness makes a difference."

Shades Hair and Spa hosted the event in memory of Jess Mellinger.
