DERRY TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. --  It's known as the sweetest place on earth, but tonight, Hershey could also be the sorest! Thousands of runners are recovering, after tackling the Hershey Half marathon on Sunday.

More than 5,000 people registered for the sold out, 7th annual event.
The course winds through Hersheypark, goes into town and then ends at Hersheypark Stadium.

In case the runners needed some inspiration to make it through the 13.1-mile course, there was a chocolate aid station to help them cross the finish line.
Another inspiration, the half marathon benefits the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.

"I can just say thank you to the runners because CMN (Children's Miracle Network) saved my son's life so it means the world to me that these people do this for the children," said Mason Hutchison, a marathon volunteer.

FOX43's own morning anchor, Melanie Orlins ran the race.

FOX43's morning reporter Jennifer Ready also earned a medal.

Some lucky participants enjoyed a complimentary post-race massage from the spa at The Hotel Hershey. Every runner received two tickets to Hersheypark in the Dark.
