NEW CUMBERLAND-  Family and friends are supporting a young chef from Cumberland County who got the chance to show off her skills on national television.

A viewing party was held Tuesday night at Grain and Verse Bottlehouse in New Cumberland, in honor of 11-year-old Lauren Poplaski.

Poplaski was a contestant on Tuesday night's episode of Chopped Junior, a cooking show on The Food Network, in which young chefs compete against each other for a $10,000 prize.

"It was kind of nerve-wracking because there were a lot of cameras around us, and they were like getting in our way sometimes," said Poplaski. "But overall it was fun because I mean a lot of people just don't get to go on TV."

Poplaski made it to the final dessert round, making almond ice cream with gooseberry and "pancake" sauce.

Unfortunately the young chef was chopped in the end.
