STEELTON, DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Caught on camera, a heartwarming moment between police, firefighters and children in Steelton, Dauphin County.

Pam Decker Huggins told FOX43 she decided to follow the Bressler Fire Company as they responded to a fire on South 4th Street in the borough on Sunday afternoon.

A Steelton police officer interacts with children on South 4th Street on Sunday afternoon.

“There was a small group of kids probably under the age of eight on the scene,” Huggins said. “At first I witnessed one of the firemen talking to them, then someone told me to look down the street.  There was a young police officer walking with the kids and they were all laughing.”

She said that wasn’t the end of the encounter. “At the end of the call when we were leaving, I happened to turn around and see the same group of kids all around one of our own, Derek Adams.”

Adams is a volunteer firefighter. Huggins says runs with Bressler Fire Department in Swatara Township.

“Derek got down to the kids level and started talking to them. It was a great sight, and I am proud to say that two of those firemen took time out of their normal routine to pay attention to these kids,” Huggins said. “Great job to the police officer and the firefighters.”
