SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa.-- The Dauphin County Commissions cut the ribbon on the five new town homes in Susquehanna Township on Tuesday.
The homes replaced an area of trash and run-down buildings, in the 4700 block of Tuscarora Street. Funding for the project came from the Dauphin County Land Bank, which works to transform blight into productive properties.
This is the second project done in Susquehanna Township. In 2015, a ranch home was renovated, in the 3500 block of Centerfield Street.
County Commissioner George Hartwick said this type of work can help raise property values.
"The rising tide lifts all ships," he said. "This new investment is going to hopefully allow for some redevelopment to occur throughout this entire neighborhood."
The Tuscarora Street Project began in August of 2015. It was completed by Marysville based-BS Smith Services, Inc. and Smith Homes Inc.
The homes are three bedroom, 1.5 bathroom, with a dining room and an unfinished basement.
The homes are listed at $140,000. Additional projects like this are planned for Steelton and Penbrook.
