DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania State Police hosted a 'Come Get to Know us Day' at the State Police Academy in Dauphin County on Sunday.

The event gives the public an opportunity to visit the training academy if they are considering a career with the state police. They could also learn what it takes to become a trooper, a liquor control enforcer, a motor carrier enforcer or a police communications officer. Officials are hoping it helps shed a positive light on what they do.

"Community relations between the law enforcement community and the public is important in today's society more than ever. We see people of all ages coming out and enjoying interacting with our troopers, and they could also get a hands-on look at a lot of our different pieces of equipment," says Corporal Adam Reed, Director of Communications.

During the event, people could attend recruitment sessions to learn more. For information on a career with the Pennsylvania State Police, visit www.PATrooper.com or www.psp.pa.gov.
