Mechanicsburg, PA. - There are more than 500,000 parents in Pennsylvania who rely on child care, and now they have a new resource to help them decide where to take their kids. The Secretaries for the Department of Human Services and the Department of Education announced the launch of a web database that will help connect parents with reliable child care. The website is findchildcare.pa.gov. State officials say the goal is to put emphasis on early learning to help better prepare children for kindergarten.

"Early childhood programs are probably one of the greatest needs throughout the commonwealth, so making a tool available for families that will help them navigate the system is the first step in improving not only our system, but connecting families to that much-needed resource," said Pedro Rivera, Pennsylvania Secretary of Education.

There are nearly 8,000 certified child care programs in Pennsylvania.
