FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. – At about 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, members of the Pennsylvania State Police Troop G Vice Unit and the Franklin County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the home of Edmund Bloomfield, 10699 Path Valley Road, Fannettsburg. The search warrant was obtained as part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of heroin from the home.

The Franklin County Drug Task Force had previously executed a search warrant on this residence on February 17,, and seized over 120 bags of heroin. Wendy R. Rhone, 38, was arrested and charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance as a result of that incident. Following the execution of the first search warrant, information was received by the Pennsylvania State Police Troop G Vice Unit and the Franklin County Drug Task Force that Bloomfield continued to distribute heroin from the residence, following the arrest of Rhone.

During this investigation, confidential informants were used to make several controlled purchases of heroin from Bloomfield. Two of these purchases were made in Dublin Township, Fulton County, and one was made from Bloomfield’s residence.

Following the last controlled purchase, investigators obtained a search warrant. During the execution of the search warrant, investigators recovered approximately 5-6 grams of raw heroin, 31 pre-packaged wax bags of heroin, a small amount of marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia associated with the sale of controlled substances, and pre-recorded confidential funds used during the controlled purchases of heroin made from Bloomfield during the investigation.

Bloomfield was charged with four counts of Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, four counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and one count of Criminal Use of a Communications Facility.

Following arraignment he was committed to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond. Bloomfield’s preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m. on November 8, at Franklin County Central Court.
