Halloween is barely in the rearview mirror, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade hasn’t even revved its first engine, which means we’re in the Christmas creep season.

Christmas creep is a term used to describe a merchandising phenomenon when merchants and retailers exploit the commercialized status of Christmas by introducing Christmas-themed merchandise or decorations before the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. The traditional holiday shopping season kicks off on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

No matter how much you may try to fight it, twinkling lights, decorative garland, and Christmas tunes will saturate consumers. One may love their share of Christmas carols, but the timing as to when to start listening to warm, holiday cheer is oftentimes an annual debate.
