Giant is kicking off the holiday season with a donation fit for a Thanksgiving feast. As part of the "Feeding Our Neighbors Everyday" campaign, the food retailer delivered 1,000 turkeys and $5,000 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Wednesday. The food and money will help create holiday meals for nearly 8,000 local people in need.
"In addition to the food value, there's the family value," said Joe Arthur, the executive director of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. "We have families that are going to enjoy a great meal together -- actually several meals -- from their turkey, and that's almost priceless. We all deserve that."
Giant's holiday campaign will deliver a total of more than $90,000 in turkeys and cash to regional food banks, and other hunger organizations, in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.
