HALIFAX, Pa. -Twenty people, 8 adults and 12 children are homeless tonight following a two alarm fire in the Borough of Halifax in northern Dauphin County. The fire which destroyed or damaged four homes, broke out at about 4:30 P.M. in the 300 block of Armstrong Street.

According a Fire Chief the fire was started by a grill behind one duplex home and quickly spread to three others on the block. When the firefighters arrived on the scene the  duplex was engulfed in flames. A 2nd alarm was sounded. Halifax fire officials say the home where the started was destroyed, a second was heavily damaged and two others damaged before the fire was brought up control.

About 50 firefighters were on the scene for over six hours fighting the fire and then battling hot spots due to the way the buildings were constructed.

There were no reports of injuries.
