YORK, Pa.-- The holidays can be a stressful time of year, for more reasons than one. However, spending money and the holidays typically go hand-in-hand.

There are a number of ways a person can avoid feeling the financial stress during this holiday season.

First, you can enjoy the holidays without spending a bunch of money. The best plan is to create a spending budget and stick to it. Adults spend an average of $830 on gift giving.

However, many people don't end up sticking to the budget. When January comes and you have a huge credit card bill, you can shop for a competitive card rate, taking advantage of a 6-12 month promotional rate to pay off the balance.

Today on FOX43 Morning News, Irene Malena from Hershey Federal Credit Union is stopping by the set with more financial advice to get you through the holidays.
