MANCHESTER, YORK COUNTY, PA. -- Around 65 veterans took the streets on Saturday, headed to our nation's capital.

The veterans traveled for free to the D.C. area where they visited a few of the war memorials and Arlington National Cemetery. The trips are coordinated through Northeastern High School.

But for some, it is not just about the trip but the new memories they made. "It's wonderful," veteran Bruce Silar said. "I get to hear some of their experiences from guys I know. I get to meet new guys and hear about how they experienced the war and their military careers."

The veterans take two trips per year. The next one is scheduled for April 2017. Funds are raised through various community groups to make the trip free for veterans.
