HARRISBURG, Pa. – Xavier Joel Rodriguez-Gonzalez, 27, formerly of Harrisburg is arrested on a fugitive warrant in Puerto Rico by members of the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

In November of 2015, Newberry Township Police investigated the sexual assault of a juvenile. Last July that investigation resulted in an arrest warrant charging Rodriguez with Rape of a Mentally Disabled Person, Statutory Sexual Assault and lesser included offenses.  Attempts to find Rodriguez in and around Harrisburg were unsuccessful.  The Newberry Township Police Department requested the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force assist in apprehending him.

During  the course of the investigation, the Fugitive Task Force from the Harrisburg office determined that Rodriguez had fled to Puerto Rico.  On Monday, November 21, Deputy Marshals from the San Juan, Puerto Rico office arrested Rodriguez in the town of Mayaguez without incident.  He was detained in San Juan pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
