Thieves try to break into Chambersburg car wash coin machine, police say

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.–Police are looking for two men who they say attempted to break into a coin machine at a Chambersburg car wash on Friday.

It happened at the Rain Tunnel Car Wash located along the 1300 block of Orchard Drive around 3:30 a.m.

Two men are seen on surveillance video pulling into a car wash bay. Once inside, the pair try to break into the coin machine using various tools. Police say the lever on the coin machine was damaged and the would-be thieves left empty handed.

The suspects vehicle is described as a black Dodge Journey with a “Mossy Oak” decal on the windshield.

Investigators say the suspect’s vehicle was also seen in the rear parking lot of the car wash next to equipment trailers. Those trailers also had the locks cut off.
