DERRY TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY, PA. -- It's a party full of energy for patients at Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey.

Giant Food Stores and Duracell teamed up to organize the event. Giant donated some refreshments, while Duracell donated 7,500 batteries to the hospital as part of its initiative to support playtime in medical facilities. The company is donating 1 million batteries nationwide. They're also giving a toy to each patient.

Organizers say the Star Wars themed party was a blast.

"It's really just a fun afternoon for the kids," Danielle Sunday, director for the Children's Miracle Network said. "The holiday season is a really hard time to be in the hospital. Any time of the year is but during the holidays particularly, so they wanted to come together and throw a great big party."

Giant is also hosting a donation campaign at its stores until December 3rd as part of its Candles for Kids campaign. Customers can donate one dollar when they check out. Proceeds will go toward purchasing life-saving equipment for children.
