WASHINGTON, D.C. — Vice President Joe Biden will be honored next month by senators on both sides of the aisle for his service in office and in the Senate, Biden spokeswoman Meghan Dubyak confirmed Tuesday to CNN.
The tribute, to be held on the Senate floor, will feature a number of lawmakers including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
Sen. Chris Coons — who occupies the same seat from Delaware that Biden held for over three decades — led the charge on the event to honor Biden, according to his spokesman Sean Coit.
Coits said Coons is “immensely proud” to hold Biden’s former seat and that he will “continue to work on many of the issues that the Vice President has focused on for decades.”
The tribute is scheduled for December 7 and the Vice President will attend, according to Dubyak.

Prior to being elected Vice President, Biden served in the Senate for 36 years. Coons now holds the Senate seat Biden once occupied.
Last week, reports swirled that Biden could be a possibility to chair the Democratic National Committee, but Biden’s team quickly shot down that rumor saying the Vice President was “not interested.”
