Update:  The officer involved in the deadly pedestrian accident has been placed on paid administrative leave as per protocol according to the Northeastern Regional Police Department.

EAST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY, Pa.–The man killed after being struck by a Northeastern Regional Police vehicle in York County Wednesday night has been identified as 74-year-old Raymond Updegraff.

Updegraff was hit by an unidentified Northeastern Regional police officer while he was crossing the road along North George Street in East Manchester Township around 10:40 p.m.

According to state police reports, the officer was on routine patrol in an unmarked vehicle when Updegraff was struck. He died at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled Friday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.
