The York County Coroner was called at 10:30 Wednesday evening to the 4000 block of N. George Street extension in E. Manchester Township, just outside a shopping plaza.

An officer was traveling south on N. George St. just past Sunset Dr. when the 74-year-old from York attempted to cross the street mid block, and was struck and killed.

The officer was on a routine patrol in an unmarked car during the incident.
