EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – Classes at Conestoga Valley High School are cancelled Monday December 5th and Tuesday December 6th following a fire that happened late Friday night.  While classes are cancelled at this time, after-school activities will be relocated.

The school district released this statement,

The fire, which broke out in the high school’s maintenance garage, impacted the rest of the building with smoke. The restoration company hired to do the cleanup, Paul Davis Restoration, needs total access to the high school to perform a thorough cleaning. Progress will be assessed on Tuesday afternoon regarding any decision moving forward. Make-up dates for high school students and staff will be determined at a later time.

“We will continue to monitor this situation to ensure that the air quality in the high school is where it needs to be,” said Dr. Gerald G. Huesken. “The safety of our students and staff at Conestoga Valley is of the utmost priority.”

While classes at the high school are cancelled, after-school activities will be relocated during this time period. More direction on these relocations will come from high school administration as these plans are made. Additionally, the annual Senior Citizens Holiday Breakfast will be moved from this Tuesday, Dec. 6 to its make-up date of Wednesday, Dec. 14.

CTC bus transportation will not be available.  Permitted student drivers may attend, but they are still responsible for any make-up days.
