Woman gives birth on flight from Philadelphia to Orlando

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.– A flight from Philadelphia to Orlando was diverted to Charleston, South Carolina on Sunday after a passenger gave birth on board.

According to FOX29 in Philadelphia,¬†Southwest Airlines Flight 556 took off from Philadelphia International Airport and was headed to Orlando International Airport when a woman on board went into labor. A flight spokesperson said that medical personnel who were on the flight helped with the baby’s delivery while the plane was diverted to Charleston.

Once the plane landed, emergency medical technicians transported the parents and baby to an area hospital while the flight resumed and the remaining 132 passengers continued on to Orlando.

One passenger, Izzy Gould, was able to get video on the flight.
