HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The United States Marine Corps is making this holiday season brighter for hundreds of children in Dauphin County.  Marines donated hundreds of toys on Tuesday, to Children and Youth Services in Harrisburg.  The toys were collected through the annual Toys for Tots drive and will be sorted and distributed to kids connected to Children and Youth Services.  Participants say the project gives them a different sense of patriotism.

"It's just being part of the community," said Staff Sergeant Adam Najar.  "I've been stationed abroad and being home, being on our own soil and being able to help out and give back to the local community is a big part of what I like doing."

The U.S. Marine Corps kicks off its annual Toys for Tots mission each October, collecting as many toys as possible before the December donation date.

Toys for Tots prides itself on the percentage of donations it's able to give back to the community.  According to the organization's website, 3% of donated funds go to fundraising expenses, while 97% help to provide toys, books, and other gifts to children in need.
