BART TOWNSHIP, LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.–A Quarryville man, who was supposed to be looking after his deployed friend’s pickup truck, is facing charges after state police say he abandoned the vehicle on private property last year.
Jordan M. Hastings, 24, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, abandonment of vehicles and trespass by motor vehicle.
According to state police reports, Hastings abandoned a pickup truck, which was owned by Noah L. Paul, 23, of Randallstown, Maryland, along the 1100 block of Valley Road in Bart Township in November 2015.
Hastings agreed to perform maintenance on Paul’s truck while he was deployed overseas with the Marine Corps, according to police reports. Instead, state police say Hastings used the truck as his own and abandoned it on private property after it broke down.
The abandoned truck was eventually towed from the property. By the time Paul learned what happened to his truck in February 2016, the vehicle had already been disposed of.
When Paul returned from his overseas deployment with the Marine Corps in September 2016,he filed a report with state police.
A preliminary hearing for Hasting is scheduled for December 21st.
