HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Numerous Gold and Blue Star Mothers were guests of honor Monday at a wreath-laying ceremony inside the Pennsylvania State Capitol.

The ceremony, hosted by Rep. Stephen Barrar (R-Delaware), Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee, included seven wreaths, placed by mothers who either lost a son or daughter since the Iraq War or still have a child serving abroad.

Each mother was accompanied by a serviceman in attendance.

Monday's event also featured a patriotic medley sung by the Central Dauphin High School Choir, and a rendition of the song "Letters From War", sung by Staff Sergeant Ian Bowling.

This Saturday, December 17, wreath-laying ceremonies will take place at noon at national and state cemeteries across the country as part of the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony.
