Wal-Mart Prepares For Black Friday Shopping Rush

With Christmas less than two weeks away, nearly 90 percent of customers still have some shopping to do, according to Walmart’s internal research.

The retailer on Tuesday unveiled its plans to offer free Christmas Eve store pickup for some orders placed online by 6 p.m. on December 23.

For the first time, Walmart launched a dedicated online destination, http://www.walmart.com/lastminutegifts. Customers can easily find items that are available for same-day pickup the days leading up to Christmas.

For customers looking to have gifts delivered right to their doorsteps, December 22 at noon is the last day to place an order on walmart.com for rush delivery.

Standard shipping will be available until December 20. Additionally, Walmart is offering free two-day shipping on more than 1,200 toys from December 14 to December 21.

Walmart stores will close at 6 p.m. on December 24. Believe it or not that’s two hours earlier than usual.
