SHREWSBURY TWP., Pa. – State police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in York County, involving a mother and her 12-month-old son.
Authorities say it happened Monday afternoon around 1:00 P.M., at a home on Baltimore Street in Shrewsbury Township.
Troopers say they were making a welfare check when they found 40-year-old, Sheri Shermeyer and her infant son, John, dead inside the home.
The York County Coroner says Shermeyer died of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police believe Shermeyer suffocated her child, before taking her own life.
Autopsies of the mother and child are scheduled for Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
