UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — When 5th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions take the field against the 9th ranked University of Southern California Trojans next week, the team will be without its starting wide receiver and linebacker.

The University released the following statement late this afternoon:

Junior wide receiver Saeed Blacknall and sophomore linebacker Manny Bowen have been suspended due to violation of team rules. They will not play in the Rose Bowl Game on January 2.

Bowen played in 13 games, with 68 total tackles, including  8 1/2 for losses. He recorded 12 tackles in the teams’ pivotal victory against Ohio State last October.
