WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa — State Police have released the name of the man who was killed in a car crash along Route 209 in Washington Township, Dauphin County on Friday morning.

According to police, Ruperto Garcia III, 31, of Harrisburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred on Gun Club Road along Route 209 around 3:00 a.m.

Police say Garcia was driving a van and traveling south, when he lost control while trying to negotiate a left curve. The van then struck a utility pole and a house. A passenger in the back of the vehicle, Kieran Gornik, 22, also of Harrisburg, was ejected. Gornik and the front seat passenger, 27-year old Heather Dietrich, were flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center with serious injuries.

The extent of their injuries is unknown. State Police say no one was wearing a seat belt and excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
