COLUMBIA, Pa. – Firefighters battle a two alarm fire in Columbia Borough. The fire broke out just after 2 p.m. at a three story middle rowhome along the 600 block of S. 9th Street. The first crews on the scene reported heavy fire pouring from the rear of the home just around the corner from the Columbia Firehouse.

Fire officials say the flames were isolated to the top floor of the home–so crews had to fight them from the roof. The fire spread to three adjacent homes on the block.  The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.

All four were rendered inhabitable and a dozen people were displaced. The American Red Cross is rendering assistance.
