HARRISBURG, Pa.–A fire tore through a home in Harrisburg, forcing a mother to throw her baby from a second-floor window to escape the flames.

The fire broke out shortly after noon along the 2100 block of Greenwood Street. Investigators say the fire started in 2140 Greenwood Street and quickly spread to an attached duplex located at 2142 Greenwood Street. Two people, a woman and a baby, were initially trapped inside of 2140 on the second-floor. The baby was dropped from a second-floor window into the arms of bystanders who were waiting below, investigators said.

The American Red Cross is assisting five people who were displaced.

No one in the homes were hurt. One firefighter was taken to the hospital after falling and spraining his back.

So far, no word on how the fire started.
