MOUNT JOY, LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.–A 26-year-old man peacefully surrendered after negotiating with authorities from inside a Mount Joy home for hours on Friday morning.

It all started around 8:30 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Plum Street and ended peacefully around 11:30 a.m.

Police say they were called to check on the welfare of a man who indicated he wanted to harm himself and reportedly had a gun.

A Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) determined the man was alone in the home. Police negotiated with the man throughout the morning and he eventually surrendered peacefully around 11:30 a.m. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.

Police say the man is being evaluated by medical personnel.

Authorities say the ‘incident’ is over and things are resuming back to normal.

Investigators tell FOX43 News no one was hurt. Police responded to the 400 block of South Plum Street in Mount Joy around 8:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a man inside a home threatening to harm himself.
