The coaching carousel has hit Penn State.

College football insider Brett McMurphy reports that Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead will be the next head coach at Mississippi State.

Moorhead will replace Dan Mullen, who was introduced as the head coach of the Florida Gators on Monday.

Moorhead joined the Nittany Lions in 2016 and made an immediate impact.

Penn State, who won the Big Ten Championship that year, averaged 37.6 points per game. The offense racked up 432.6 yards per game.

As of Saturday, November 25, the Nittany Lions ranked second in the conference in scoring offense (41.6 points per game) and total offense (453.3 yards per game). Senior quarterback Trace McSorley paved the way for the top spot in the Big Ten for passing with 285.8 passing yards per game.

Prior to his two years in Happy Valley, he was the head coach of the Fordham Rams.
