Police search for suspect in attempted armed robbery at local Rutters

SWATARA TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa.- Swatara Township Police are investigating an early morning attempted armed robbery at the Rutters on Derry Street.

Police responded to the scene just before 3am. They say the masked suspect entered the store with a handgun.

A store employee was standing near a second entrance, and ran out the door.

The suspect was then confronted by an armed patron, and fled the store.

Police say he also robbed a Turkey Hill in Derry Township less than an hour before this incident.

The patron he encountered was licensed to carry a firearm in Pennsylvania.
