DILLSABURG, YORK COUNTY, Pa.- Saturday marked the third annual Party in the Park in York County to raise awareness about Complex PTSD.
The event was held in Dillsburg and sponsored by Beauty After Bruises.
The money raised will go towards treatment for people battling Complex PTSD.
The condition is typically developed during childhood, and happens when a child has been abused or sexually assaulted over a long period of time.
"We want to help bring awareness, so that people understand that one in four of us have been assaulted before we graduate high school. And it does change who we are. It changes the way we behave in the world. It also changes the way we move. The more awareness we have, the more understanding we have, it helps us to become better parents, better people, and it helps us to understand why some people behave the way they do -- and that they just need help," said Kim McKonly, co-founder of the event.
More than a dozen vendors braved the rain for a day of fun and to support a great cause.
