LANCASTER — Police have arrested a 31-year-old Lancaster man for allegedly attempting to strangle a woman during a July 5 argument on the 500 block of North Plum Street.

In addition to a felony charge of strangulation, Scotty Lee Gebhard is also charged with one misdemeanor count of terroristic threats and one count of harassment, according to Lancaster Police.

Police say Gebhard grabbed the victim by the throat and impeded her ability to breathe. When the victim attempted to run from him, police say, Gebhard pushed her to the pavement. He then allegedly threatened to kill the victim and her family if she contacted police regarding the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:19 p.m., police say.

Gebhard was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Janice Jiminez. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
