HELLAM TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY, Pa — Police have arrested a 24 year-old Lower Windsor Township man in connection with Saturday’s deadly shooting in Hellam Township.

Emergency dispatchers say the call came in around 1 a.m. for a shooting in the 5300 block of Lincoln Highway, at the Red Rose Restaurant and Lounge.

Police say that 25 year-old Chad Merrill, of Lower Windsor Township, was found with one gunshot wound to the chest when first responders arrived.

Merrill was taken to York Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

After witness interviews and reviewing surveillance video, investigators were able to identify James Saylor, 24, of Lower Windsor Township as a suspect.

Police took Saylor into custody on Saturday morning without incident.

He is charged with criminal homicide.

An investigation is ongoing.
