NEW CUMBERLAND BOROUGH, CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa — One firefighter was injured, and 4 people are displaced after a fire rips through a duplex in New Cumberland on Saturday.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 400 block of 3rd Street, just before 10:30 a.m. for a duplex fire.

Officials on-scene said that there was heavy smoke when crews arrived.

No residents were injured, but one firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor burns and a shoulder injury. He has since been released.

New Cumberland Fire Chief Jim Benson says, that one home is a total loss, the other has extensive damage smoke and water damage and is uninhabitable.

Four people are displaced and one pet died in the fire.

State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
