Three displaced after duplex fire in Steelton

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa.-- Three people have been displaced after a fire broke out a duplex.

Emergency personnel responded to the 600 block of S. 2nd Street in Steelton for a house fire sometime before 4:45 a.m. Monday morning.

The fire originated at an uninhabited duplex home coming out of the third floor rear window, and spread to surrounding home.

The fire is believed to have began in a kitchen area, and the residence was inhabited by a hoarder, making the fire more difficult to manage for firefighters.

Three people escaped that surrounding home safely, but both residences have been deemed as a total loss.

The Red Cross is on the scene and assisting those displaced, and the State Police Fire Marshal is on the way to investigate.
