LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.-- UPDATE (September 6): Manheim Central School District is set to dismiss multiple schools early again on Thursday due to high temperatures and humidity.

The school district posted this message on its website:

Greetings-

While I was hopeful we might be able to get a full day in tomorrow (9/6), the high temps coupled with the high humidity lend itself to concerns for our students and staff.

As we have been making decisions the past two weeks, I have used the chart below as a reference. Any time you get into the last two categories (orange and red), I have concerns for the well-being of our learners. At the time of this communication, tomorrow’s temperatures are projected to be at 91 with over 75% humidity. Thus, we are going to dismiss early tomorrow for our High School and HC Burgard Elementary learners.

We will follow similar suit for after school activities: move practices/games to 6 PM, move practice to an indoor climate controlled facility, or cancel altogether. A message from your son or daughter’s coach will be forthcoming.

I sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate the weather. I am confident we will resume normal activities by Friday. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please be in touch with your son or daughter’s building principal. I welcome any questions or concerns as well.

Take care- pja

UPDATE (September 5): Manheim Central School District will dismiss multiple schools again Wednesday due to high temperatures.

The school district posted this message on its Facebook page:

Due to the weather forecast of continued hot temperatures tomorrow, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, the High School will again have an early release at 11:05 AM. HC Burgard will again dismiss at 12:00 PM.

After school activities will either be rescheduled until 6 PM, moved to an indoor climate-controlled facility, or canceled. If your son or daughter is involved in an after-school activity, please be on the look-out for an announcement from his or her respective coach.

If a modified schedule is needed for Thursday, we will make a decision no later than 5:30 PM on Wednesday.

Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility during these severe weather conditions.

PREVIOUSLY: Manheim Central School District will be dismissing multiple schools early today due to high temperatures hitting the area.

The school district posted this message from the superintendent on its Facebook page:

Greetings-

While our first week went well, it was a week of school like I have never experienced!

The weather forecast for this week does not look good. In fact, we potentially face hotter temperatures than we did last week. While our weather-related decisions only impact our students at HCB and the HS, I wanted to keep you all in the loop.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 4, 2018, the High School will be dismissing at 11:05 AM. HC Burgard will dismiss at 12:00 PM.

After school activities will either be rescheduled until 7 PM, moved to an indoor climate-controlled facility, or canceled. If your son or daughter is involved in an after-school activity, please be on the look-out for an announcement from his or her respective coach.

The weather looks similar for Wednesday. We will make a decision for Wednesday no later than 5:30 PM on Tuesday.

I appreciate your understanding as we navigate the unpredictable weather. Should you have any questions, please be in touch with your respective building principal. Take care - pja
